A reminder of the changes coming to Starbucks Rewards on February 13
A reminder that the mostly negative changes to Starbucks Rewards kick in on Monday February 13. These changes were first announced (very poorly I might add) by Starbucks in late December. At that time I wrote that Starbucks should have done the following:
“plain and simple the email should state that Redemption rates for rewards are changing this February.”
Lo and behold an email from Starbucks yesterday that was sent out to members:
“On Monday, February 13, 2023, the number of Stars needed to redeem certain Rewards is changing.”
Coincidence? Probably, but as the Canadian consumer’s voice for loyalty programs maybe Starbucks took heed from our coverage as I have been (and will be) discussing the changes in the media. Nonetheless they are now providing proper notice a few days before the change. This should have been done long ago but they likely didn’t want a run on redemptions at the existing rates. To which point I would say if you want to retain value try to use up as many Starbucks Stars over this weekend if you can!

Don’t forget as well that in just under two weeks we’ll see the changes to Tim Hortons Tim Rewards take place as well!

Receive a 25% bonus when you buy World of Hyatt Points
Hyatt is the next hotel chain out with a buy points bonus. At 25% this round is a lower than what we typically see from them which is 30% to 40% extra points. In this case I would only buy the points if you need to top off for an award night or keep the points in your account from expiring. This offer is available until March 25, 23.
