Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort

Hotel Review: Delta Hotels Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort

Recently I had the chance to visit Victoria, British Columbia for a business trip. During this stay I wanted to be close to Downtown Victoria and chose to stay at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort. The hotel is located on the opposite side of the harbour from downtown area and is in a quieter atmosphere surrounded by residential buildings.

Mobile Check-In

To my delight, I was able to check in using their mobile app and received a notification that my room was ready, along with a mobile key. This convenient feature spared me from the usual check-in process upon arrival. As a first-time guest at this hotel, I appreciated this streamlined experience, which is one of the reasons why I prefer staying at Marriott properties.

Arrival

Upon arrival, I drove directly to the hotel’s underground parking lot, conveniently located across from the main entrance. I provided my license plate number and was issued a parking pass by the friendly staff at the check-in counter to display on my dashboard. It’s worth noting that I didn’t have to do this right when I arrived and could have taken care of it after settling into my room.

The Guest Room

The room was recently renovated, boasting a modern aesthetic. It was equipped with standard amenities such as a TV, a dresser, and a comfortable king-size bed. Near the entrance was a small kitchen area with a microwave, fridge, and sink. This room had a lounge area with two stylish chairs by the windows, providing a cozy seating area. The bathroom had dim lighting, a contemporary sink, and an attractive glass shower. My room offered a partial view of the surrounding residential buildings and the charming harbour.

Club Lounge

The hotel’s executive lounge on the 3rd floor provided access to guests staying in the club rooms or those with Marriott Platinum Elite status. I visited the lounge in the evening and there was a selection of appetizers and various drinks. I dined at the lounge for breakfast, the breakfast spread included standard options such as scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and more. While the food was satisfactory, I did find it to be lukewarm at best.

Amenities

The fitness center and swimming pool were situated on the parking level floor. The gym area was of a decent size and even featured a separate yoga/stretch room with ample towels for guests. The swimming pool, with its glass wall, allowed abundant sunlight to flood the area, creating a pleasant environment. Additionally, there was a tennis court available for those interested in playing.

The hotel has a peaceful terrace on the 6th floor for guests seeking relaxation with a view of the harbour. Located in the lobby, you’ll discover two convenient dining options: the Lure Restaurant & Bar, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal, and the Harbour Grab ‘n Go, offering quick breakfast and snack options. Additionally, the Damara Day Spa provides a range of relaxing and rejuvenating services.

Award night details:

Points required for a free night: 30,000 to 45,000 points

Marriott Bonvoy does not publish award night charts anymore as they have moved to dynamic pricing. The Delta Hotels Calgary Airport In-Terminal typically runs between 30,000 and 45,000 points per night. This means you can use the free night award from the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express®* Card or Marriott Bonvoy™ Business American Express® Card on those nights that are 35,000 points or lower or you can even use it with the points top off to cover those nights that are higher. Since you can add up to 15,000 points extra, those nights that run 45,000 points would only require you to redeem 10,000 points plus the certificate.
