Recently, I went on a work trip to Calgary. Typically my go-to hotel is the Marriott Calgary Airport In-Terminal Hotel, however this time I chose to stay at the Delta Hotels Calgary Airport In-Terminal hotel as they just recently reopened after being closed for over a year for renovations.
Arrival at the Delta Hotels Calgary Airport In-Terminal
Upon arriving at the airport, I was pleased to find that the hotel was conveniently located just steps away from the entrance of the airport terminals. This was really nice after a late flight to Calgary and being connected to the terminal with +15 walkways you don’t even have go outside in the depths of winter.
Check-In
When I entered there was a short queue at check in with two staff members handling the desk, however it was a smooth process. I waited for about 5 minutes and then I was greeted by a friendly employee that welcomed me to the hotel. As a Titanium Marriott Bonvoy member, I was offered a choice between points or breakfast as a welcome gift. I had requested an upgrade or late check-in, however at this point there was no information provided on an upgrade or late check-out option. While the experience was acceptable, I would have appreciated more details about the hotel’s additional perks.
The lobby was right in front of the restaurant and has low ceilings, but once you get into the restaurant area, it opens to the atrium with a lot of sunlight that comes in during the day. If you get one of the lobby facing guest rooms be aware that people can see into the guest rooms if the blinds are not closed.
Guest Room, 1 King
I was in a standard room, which for me felt modern and spacious and as you would expect from Delta hotels, the room was clean, s. The view from my room was of the parking lot, which is not much of a view. The only thing that I can say about that room that I found unpleasant is how thin the walls are. At night, I could hear the conversations from the other room and in the morning I was awoken by conversations next door – it actually felt like someone was in my room!
Amenities
There was a gym by the elevator on the lobby floor. It is an excellent size gym with all the equipment you would need for a good workout. I didn’t find any other amenities at this hotel., which is unfortunate. The hotel used to have a pool and hot tub which was right in the atrium by the lobby that now houses the new hotel restaurant.
Codo Agave Social House Restaurant
I had breakfast and dinner at the Codo Agave Social House Restaurant which now sits where the pool used to be! If you have platinum elite status and up, the breakfast is complimentary, however without it, it can be expensive. Overall, the service at the restaurant was excellent and fast. The restaurant has a grab-and-go section, for those that want to grab a quick snack. A nice little perk is that there is also a pool table area for guests to use, it is located just past the cash register.
Wrapping it up
This hotel is great for a one-night stay or a layover. It is in a good location and is a short walking distance to the airport terminal. While the hotel was cheaper than the Marriott In-Terminal hotel however if you do have the option to choose between the two for a visit, I would recommend the latter.
Award night details:
Points required for a free night: 15,600 to 22,500 points
Marriott Bonvoy does not publish award night charts anymore as they have moved to dynamic pricing. The Delta Hotels Calgary Airport In-Terminal typically runs between 15,500 and 22,500 points per night. While this means you can use the free night award from the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express®* Card or Marriott Bonvoy™ Business American Express® Card you may not want to. The certificate covers up to 35,000 points so you may just be better off using points to actually stay here. Then you can utilize the certificate for a more points expensive location.
