Back on July 20th we had a post that detailed tourism board offers that provide gift cards and/or discounts for stays at select hotels within those tourism board regions. From Vancouver to Quebec City and several cities in-between you can receive $75 visa gift cards, $100 visa gift cards and discounts for dining just to name a few. What is good about some of these offers allow you to actually book the stay via the actual hotel chain so you may earn points, receive your elite status benefits and more. It appears Ottawa, Richmond & Vancouver are the cities where you cannot book direct with the hotel chain.
While there are lots of hotels available we happened to come across the Quebec City offer during our search for Marriott bonus points offers. So for fun I decided to check it out and how it works for booking the offer via Marriott and much to my surprise it is an excellent deal, not just to get the $75 prepaid card but the pricing the hotel is offering for this promotion!
The hotel in question is the Hotel PUR, Quebec, Tribute Portfolio Hotel and if you recall from our post about these offers, the Quebec City deal provides a $75 prepaid Visa card when you stay 2 or more nights at participating hotels. That $75 card is good for use at participating businesses in Québec City and Area. Perfect for your stay! But here’s where the excellent deal comes in and that is the pricing this hotel has for this promotion:
Look at that pricing! The Gift Card offer comes in at $215 per night versus the best member flexible rate at $234. So not only are you saving $19 per night but you are also earning that $75 gift card. You can book this offer here if it interests you!
So I decided to check another hotel from another chain with another city offer. This one is the offer for London, Ontario that provides a $100 Tourism London prepaid card. We checked out the offer at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London (with the promo code PK2 per the Tourism London website):
Again a really good deal! $26 cheaper per night and you get the gift card. This hotel is only $100 per night so if you only stay 2 nights it’s like you are getting a $50 rebate on each night.
As you can see with some of these offers not only are your getting the gift card(s) and/or area discounts but the actual rates to stay at the hotels are better than the best available rates! All in all something to remember and check out if you are planning any stays over the next few months in the cities that have these offers.
