REMINDER: NEXUS application fees increasing to US$120 on October 1st

Having a NEXUS card is a must for anyone who likes to travel – whether it is once per year or 15 times per month. And, if you don’t have one yet or yours is set to expire, here’s a friendly reminder that NEXUS application fees will increase from the current US$50 to US$120 as of October 1, 2024.

The fee increase will be applicable to both new and renewing applicants so if you have been considering applying for a NEXUS card or are due for renewal in the next year, we would recommend doing so before that date so that you only have to pay the US$50 fee.

You can also receive NEXUS fees rebates with numerous credit cards in Canada. If you don’t have one of these cards, you would still have time to get one of these and then apply for or renew NEXUS.

CIBC is letting their existing and potential new cardholders know about the NEXUS fee increase in their card offer T&Cs

Now, the next question that will need be to asked once the NEXUS fee increase is implemented, is will we see any of the card issuers bump up their NEXUS rebates or will they keep them the same? Many card issuers in the U.S. have already increased their rebates for Global Entry (which is also US$120) but so far there has been no movement from Canadian issuers to bump it up here for NEXUS.

At US$50, NEXUS has been an amazing deal and as unfortunate as it is to see the fee increase, at US$120, getting a NEXUS card will still be one of the best investments you can make if you like to travel.
