I looked at a few different nights for stays at the hotel with this bonus points offer and in each case it priced out $125 more per night than the best Member Rate Flexible price. Here is an example of one night on April 18:

That’s a pretty big price difference to pay for the extras and you may ask is it worth it? Well, it can be but it is going to come down to what you see as the extra value you get for paying that $125. First off is the 10,000 bonus points. With our current valuation that alone is worth C$100 however next week Marriott will be moving to dynamic pricing and chances are the value may go down. I do want to stress however this is a minimum valuation. There are many cases where you can get 1.5, 2, 3 or more cents per point with Marriott and for the next year or so you should still be able to do so. So that 10,000 points can quickly become $150, $200 or $300 or more. It would all come down to what value you get per point when you redeem them. For this post we’ll take our 1 cent per point value and say the 10,000 points are worth $100.

Then you are still paying $25 on top of the $100 in points for the Club Lounge access. Is the access worth that much or perhaps more? It definitely can be especially if you have two or more people staying in one room as the price of the room does not change. You can technically have dinner (well hors d’oeuvres), snacks and breakfast here not to mention free soft drinks, juices, and so on.

In the end it is entirely possible to extract more value than the $125 extra you are paying but I would say it is really teetering on the edge of ‘extra value’. It is definitely not worth it if you have Platinum or higher status with Marriott Bonvoy since you automatically get lounge access and could buy points for less when there is a bonus (in fact the up to 50% bonus has been extended to April 3, 2022)

Ultimately this comes down to seeing if you can extract some excellent value out of the points and the lounge access. If you feel you can this is a package to look. Oh and I would also say it also falls into the “my employer is paying for the stay and the budget allows for this price per night so I’ll book it category.”
