December 15 Update: Hilton Diamonds can gift Gold Elite Status, Air Canada offering Biometric boarding out of SFO, another Cobalt multiplier & two new Amex offers

Here’s your Rewards Canada Daily update! Your daily dose (or near
daily dose) of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses,

Do you have Hilton Honors Diamond status? If so you
should have received an email from Hilton letting you know that you can
gift Gold elite status to a family member or friend for a year. This is
normally a benefit that you receive as a Diamond member after you
complete 60 stays so this is a nice gift for this year where it would be
tough to reach that many nights.

  1. Gift Hilton Honors Elite Status to a loved one. Hilton
    Honors is extending a one-time opportunity to its global Diamond and
    Lifetime Diamond members. Beginning next week until January 31, 2021,
    these elite members will be able to gift status for one year to a family
    member or friend. Typically, the Elite Status Gifting benefit is
    reserved for members who complete a standard, annual night requirement.

Air Canada has become the first Canadian airline to
offer Biometric boarding for flights departing the US to Canada. Right
now if you depart from San Francisco on an Air Canada flight you can
choose to use the Biometric boarding option. Air Canada plans to expand
the option to more U.S. airports as time progresses.

Biometric boarding enables customers to present themselves at the
boarding gate, have their photo taken which is then validated and
confirmed to their passport document details and photo which are already
captured via the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Traveler
Verification Service. In a matter of seconds, CBP’s biometric facial
comparison service will automatically compare the new photo of the
traveller to images that the traveller has already provided to the
government, such as passport and visa photos.  Overall, the use of
facial biometrics provides travellers with a secure, touchless process
that streamlines air travel.

 Here’s another YYC American Express Cobalt Card confirmed multiplier. It’s an amazing bakery on 17th Avenue near downtown called The Black Sheep Fine Foods and Patisserie. My recent purchase there earned the 5x eats and drinks multiplier on the Cobalt Card. You can find this and many more confirmed 5x locations from across Canada and the world on our page here. You can order from Black Sheep online as well although I’m not 100% sure if online will count as 5x.
