Today is a big news day for WestJet as make a push for their program prior to Air Canada’s official launch of the new Aeroplan program on Sunday. This is the third and final post covering all the news coming out of WestJet today and it is for Gold/Platinum Elite Tier members and WestJet World Elite credit card holders. There are two new benefits that will be coming soon to the program as follows:
- New tier milestone choice benefit being able to gift
one-time Gold status to someone for a round-trip flight that they can
take on their own (applies to $6,000 milestone award and at $8K and
every $2k after that) – This is a benefit for Gold and Platinum tier
members - The ability to exchange your WestJet RBC World
Elite companion voucher for lounge access (including our own Calgary
flagship Elevation lounge)
The first benefit is the one for Gold and Platinum members. These member will be able to gift Gold Elite status to someone for one round trip flight. This means that person will enjoy priority check in, priority boarding, first bag free and lounge access for that flight along with the possibility of an upgrade to Premium or Business Class. This new benefit is a tier milestone choice benefit which means an elite member will earn them when they hit spending milestones of $6,000 and every $2,000 after that. This benefit is an add on over and above the current milestone benefits that elite members get. To refresh your memory here the current milestone awards (click to make larger)
The second benefit that will be coming soon is for anyone who has a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard. The WestJet Rewards program will give cardholders the option to convert the companion voucher that comes with the card to lounge access including their new flagship lounge in Calgary

WestJet hasn’t revealed just yet how many lounge access vouchers you’ll receive for the companion voucher – but considering you can easily pull out $1000+ of value when redeeming for flights it better be a heck of a lot of access! We will learn early in 2021 what that amount will be.
While this is the third and final post for today covering the latest news from WestJet they assure me that they aren’t done just yet. I mean we already mentioned earlier this week that the current offer on the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard of 350 WestJet dollars has been extended only a short period to November 11 which leads us to believe something good may be coming on the 12th!
