Air France KLM Flying Blue Free Stopovers on Reward Tickets are officially here

Last fall Air France KLM’s Flying Blue program unofficially announced they would be adding free stopovers to their reward tickets. These have been bookable since December 2022 or so but now the program has made it official. They now have a page on their Flying Blue website detailing the free stopover program that provides a free 24 hour or longer stopover when booking reward flights on Air France, KLM or partner airlines that have a connection.

Currently the stopovers can only be booked over the phone with Flying Blue customer service and are not available online. What this means is that at this time you won’t be able to add a stopover to AF KLM’s famous Promo Rewards discounted ticket offers as those are only available online. I’m sure once they integrate the free stopover feature to online bookings we’ll the popularity Promo Rewards grow even more! By the way the next set of Promo Rewards will be released this Saturday!

Here are AF KLM’s FAQs on the free stopover benefit:

What trips can a stopover be added to?
You can include a stopover of 24 hours or more during a connection between 2 flights, operated by Air France, KLM or our airline partners.
How can I pay for trips that include a stopover?
You can pay for trips that include a stopover in Miles or with Cash & Miles. (Taxes and surcharges paid in euros or any other eligible currency.)
Can I get a refund or change my reward ticket when my trip includes a stopover?
The original terms & conditions for reward tickets still apply when you add a stopover to your trip.
Can I book extra options for trips that include a stopover?
After booking your reward tickets you can book all available extra options on airfrance.com or klm.com.
