CIBC adding an accelerated earn multiplier for EV charging to all their cards
According to this post on Red Flag Deals CIBC will be adding an EV Charging earning accelerator to their credit cards. Most of these cards have accelerators for gas station purchases however over recent years card networks have made a separate merchant code for EV Charging which didn’t fall into the gas station category. So it makes perfect sense for CIBC to add an accelerated category for EV Charging to match that of those who fill up there cars with gas! These earn rates are set to begin on April 20, 2023. The rates by card will be as follows:
- CIBC Aventura Cards: 1 to 2 points per dollar depending on which card you have
- CIBC Dividend Cards: 1% to 4% per dollar depending on which card you have
- CIBC Aeroplan Cards: 1 to 1.5 points per dollar depending on which card you have

This is the ice cream vendor in the new Calgary Farmers Market West facility and so far I have yet to find a location that does not accept Amex. All the vendors I have gone to so far (around 8 to 10 or so) have all accepted American Express.
