The Radisson Rewards Americas hotel frequent guest program will come to a close later this month as it is integrated into Choice Privileges. Thirteen months ago Choice Hotels announced they were acquiring Radisson Hotels Americas but ran the two brands including their loyalty programs separately while they completed the process of combining the companies. We now know the loyalty program portion will be complete as of July 18 as Radisson Rewards Americas will be integrated into Choice Privileges on that day.
The integration process
As of July 18 members of Radisson Rewards Americas will no longer be able to earn or redeem Radisson Rewards points. Any points that are earned and in your account up until that date are safe as they will be automatically transferred to your Choice Privileges accounts within a few weeks after that date.
The points will transfer at a rate of 2 Radisson Rewards points to 1 Choice Privileges point. This is the same conversion rate that has been in place since February when it was announced you could transfer points between the two programs.
Tier Status
If you hold a higher tier status in Radisson Rewards Americas then you do in Choice Privileges you will retain it as they will assign your account with the higher status out of the two. Any elite night credits you have will be combined from the two programs as well and if the combined total meets the requirements for a higher tier status level you will receive that tier in Choice Privileges.
Existing bookings (paid or award nights)
For existing cash bookings that you have made for dates after July 18 you will now earn Choice Privileges points on them instead of Radisson Rewards points. If you have award nights booked via Radisson Rewards Americas for stays after July 18 they are being honoured as is so there is nothing you have to do on your part other than enjoy your stay!
Wrapping it up
In just over two weeks Choice Hotels will complete the integration of Radisson Rewards Americas into their Privileges program. For members who have already linked their accounts between the two programs the transition should be seamless and not require you to do anything on your part. If you have not linked the programs or do not have a Choice Privileges account they recommend you create one and link your accounts prior to July 18 so they can transfer your points, elite status and elite night credits. They don’t state what happens if you don’t have a Choice Privileges account by that time. I would assume much like other program integrations they will create a new account for you and assign you a new Choice Privileges numbers (And hopefully transfer everything over!)
