Changes coming to the Iberia Plus program
2025 is shaping up to a big year for frequent flyer program changes and the next one comes to us from Iberia Plus. This is a airline and program that is owned by the same company that owns British Airways who had already announced changes earlier this year so these changes to Iberia were not a surprise.
The Iberia Plus program is one that is not used by many Canadians outside of the hardcore points & miles enthusiasts who transfer Avios to the program to take advantage of the couple of Transatlantic sweet spots the program has so I’ll leave the coverage of the changes very brief:
The program will be renamed Club Iberia Plus – I guess “Club” is becoming the connecting point between the Avios programs since we have British Airways Club (nee Executve Club), Aer Lingus Aer Club and Qatar Airways Privilege Club. Any bets on Finnair Plus being renamed to Club Finnair Plus?
And much like the changes to BA Club, Club Iberia Plus the primary changes come in the form elite status qualification requirements. The program will have two ways of qualifying, either on segments or spend. If you are qualifying on segments, the requirement has actually gone down for the first two elite levels but just like with BA, qualifying on spend will require more spend now to qualify.
