Air Canada to resume flights after reaching a tentative deal with flight attendants

Good news for Canadian travellers as Air Canada and the union for the airline’s flight attendant have reached a tentative deal that will see the airline resume operations this afternoon.

From Air Canada:

Our flights will restart this evening with a gradual ramp up over the coming days.

While the restart of our operations will begin immediately, we expect it will take several days before our operations return to normal.

Please do not head to the airport unless you have a confirmed itinerary.

Flexible Rebooking Policy

If you are booked to travel between August 15 and August 22 and would like to make alternate travel arrangements, you can change your flight for free if:

  • You purchased an Air Canada ticket or redeemed points for an Aeroplan flight reward no later than August 17, 2025.

If you’re scheduled to travel during this period, you can retrieve your booking to change to another Air Canada flight, for free on:

  • Another date between August 23 and September 30, 2025

If you purchased a non-refundable fare, you may cancel your itinerary and receive the unused portion of your ticket in your AC Wallet or as a Future Travel Credit to use on your next Air Canada booking. If you purchased your ticket with Air Canada Vacations, please reach out to them directly.

Due to the volume of flight cancellations, we are also providing a full refund upon request for the unused portion of tickets purchased on or before August 15, 2025, for travel with Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge between August 18 and August 21, 2025. This does not include Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz and PAL airlines, which will continue to operate as scheduled.

Under Canada’s Airline Passenger Protection Regulations, customers in Canada are not eligible for compensation for delayed or cancelled flights, meals, hotels or other incidental expenses for situations outside the carrier’s control, including a labour disruption. In all cases, we’ll inform passengers of their rights under applicable rules if their flight is cancelled or delayed to meet our regulatory obligations.

Get 500 free JetBlue TrueBlue points (Works for Canadians!)

Not too long ago we added JetBlue TrueBlue’s Partner Passport promotion to Rewards Canada’s bonus offer sectiona and are following up with some good news! This is a promotion where you can earn bonus points for earning with TrueBlue partners and while it is definitely geared towards those living in the U.S. (which totally makes sense) there are portions that us Canucks can take advantage of.

There are bonuses for renting with Avis and Budget – and then there is the Dunkin’ Donut partner option – which provides free points! I tested out the Dunkin’ option to see if it works for TrueBlue accounts based in Canada and the answer is yes, it does!

All you have to do is opt in to receive JetBlue+Dunkin parntnership emails and the points are yours! Here’s the points that posted to my TrueBlue account:

Members can earn up to 7,500 points in total with the entire Partner Passport promotion but that will be a tough go for Canadians who aren’t travelling to the U.S. to score some of the offers in the promotion or don’t have a U.S. based credit card to use for JetBlue Dining.

Click here to learn more about the promotion and to sign up for the Dunkin’ emails!
