Buy or gift Aeroplan Points with an 85% bonus

Aeroplan has come out with another buy or gift points promotion where you can earn an 85% bonus. This offer runs until April 30, 2023 and allows members to buy up to 500,000 points per transaction up to the annual limit of 1 million points. If you buy 15,000 or more points you will earn the 85% bonus.

When you buy points at the 85% level your cost on each point is 1.89 cents (C$) each before taxes. Since we value Aeroplan points at a minimum of 1.5 cents each you would think it wouldn’t make sense to buy them 1.89 cents each but time and time again we have shown Aeroplan redemption examples easily reaching 4, 5 or even 6 or more cents per point in value. In those cases where you can extract at least 2 cents per point or more in value it can make sense to buy points as you would end up saving some cash on your trips!
