Air France KLM Flying Blue‘s Promo Rewards are out now for the month of July! This month they include 25% off business class from Calgary, Ottawa and Quebec City to Europe, North Africa and Turkey.

25% off Business Class from Calgary
Business class flights on KLM without the discount start at 65,000 miles one way out of Calgary. Round trip will start at exactly double that at 130,000 miles. Thus with a 25% discount one way flights can be redeemed for as little as 48,750 miles one way and round trip for 97,500 miles.
25% off Business Class from Ottawa and Quebec City
Business class flights on Air France without the discount start at 70,000 miles one way out of these two cities. Round trip will start at exactly double that at 140,000 miles. Thus with a 25% discount one way flights can be redeemed for as little as 52,500 miles one way and round trip for 105,000 miles.
Availability
When you do search flights the mileage amounts will vary depending on which destinations you choose in Europe, North Africa or Turkey. As well the dates play a big part in finding those lowest amounts.
For Calgary there were a couple of days open in July at 48,750 to Amsterdam and then quite a bit more availability in October, November and December. I did not see any availability in August or September. Return flights were showing roughly the same.
For Ottawa and Quebec City to Europe there was availability on select dates in July, August and September. The return was a bit more sparse but a few days did show up for Quebec City but and very little for Ottawa.

Booking and travel dates:
You can book these rewards right through to July 31st on the Air France or KLM websites. You can travel on these offers anytime between now and December 31, 2023.
For summer and early fall travel you may have to get creative with your routing due to the sparse availability of the offers. You can look at flying one way into one city and then returning from another and try to be flexible with your travel dates.
Transfer from American Express Membership Rewards
If you don’t have the Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard your best option is to convert American Express Membership Rewards points to Flying Blue Miles. The transfers are typically near-instant but American Express does state they can take up to 3 days.
Membership Rewards points transfer at a 1 to 0.75 ratio to Flying Blue. Which means you’ll need to transfer as little as 65,000 points for a one way KLM business class flight out of Calgary or 70,000 points out of Ottawa and Quebec City for a one way business class flight on Air France.
Even with the 1 to 0.75 ratio these represent great redemption options for your Membership Rewards points. This especially true for the American Express Cobalt Card if you earned most or all of your points at the 5x level. If you are able to redeem for a round trip business class flight for 130,000 Membership Rewards points (97,500 miles) it represents $26,000 in 5x points spending. You wouldn’t come even close to getting a redemption like this for that amount spending with any other credit card in Canada.

This now the fourth month in a row that we have had Air France KLM Flying Blue’s Promo Rewards for Canada! This month they feature 25% off business class flights out of Calgary, Ottawa and Quebec City. With those flights starting as low as 48,750 miles each way this is good promotion to try to score some premium flights for summer or fall travel to Europe!
