United 737 Max 8

United Airlines adding non-stop Montreal to San Francisco flights

United is continuing to show its love for  Canada! They continue to add even more flights between Canada and the U.S. with the latest from them being a new daily flight between Montreal and San Francisco

Montreal – San Francisco

This route will be operated once daily starting on July 2, 2024 from Montreal (the SFO-YUL flight actually start on July 1)  with a Boeing 737 MAX 8.

Here are the flight times (per Aeroroutes)

UA2857 SFO 2300 – 0725+1 YUL
UA2858 YUL 0830 – 1146 SFO 7

Earning points & miles on these flights

You can choose to credit these flights to United’s own program, MileagePlus, but I would think most Canadians will opt to have these credited to their Air Canada Aeroplan account. You can also choose to credit these flights to any other Star Alliance partner.

United does not have a co-brand credit card in Canada however you can convert Marriott Bonvoy points to MileagePlus so you could use cards like the Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card or Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card to pay for these flights and then convert the points. Or you can choose to pay with a card that has a travel accelerator to boost your Aeroplan account like The Platinum Card from American Express or the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card.

Booking these flights with points & miles

As these are United flights, you can use United MileagePlus miles to redeem for these flights. It looks like they start around 15,000 miles one way for Economy Class

You should also be able to use Aeroplan points for these flights however when I checked Aeroplan on a few dates I couldn’t get the direct non-stop United flights to show up – only AC connections to AC and UA flights.

Wrapping it up
