Qatar Airways card linked

Earn extra Avios with Qatar Airways card linked offers

Most of the Rewards Canada community is familiar with AIR MILES Card Linked offers but did you know Qatar Airways Privilege Club also offers a similar program? Holders of a Canadian issued Mastercard cards (and possibly Visa Cards) can add their card number to Qatar Airways Privilege Club card link offers and then collect Avios at participating merchants. Currently the entire merchant list is in Qatar so it will only be of use if you are visiting or connecting via Qatar but the airline does have plans to expand the program beyond its home country.

They state the feature is available for Visa credit cards issued in over 70 countries where card linking is supported, as well as for Mastercard credit cards issued in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Qatar, UAE, UK, Uruguay and USA. So we can confirm Canadian Mastercards work but we are not 100% sure about Visa cards. We’ll see if we can get more information on that.

Location examples:

Here are some examples of the current locations in Qatar where you can use your linked card to earn Avios on purchases made with the card:

Linking your card

Linking your card is quite easy from the Privilege Club Card linked page.  Once you click on the “start now” button you’ll be prompted to login

Then you’ll click on ‘get started’ on the next screen:

Next you’ll input your card number and agree to the terms:

If all is good after you click link now you’ll receive the following confirmation:

You’ll now be taken back to the page where you manage your linked cards and where they have the following,  so I switched on “I want to collect with every purchase”

Which gave the following pop up, so I clicked on “Yes, collect Avios”

And now everything seems to be set in place to collect Avios if I use my linked Mastercard at any of the participating merchants.

You still earn your card’s points, miles or cash back

The good thing with these card linked offers is that you can still earn your standard miles, points or cash back on your card, plus anything awarded with the retailer’s loyalty program points and so forth.

Wrapping it up

If you are planning on flying Qatar Airways from Montreal to Doha for a visit or even connecting elsewhere beyond, or with any other airline for that matter you may want to consider linking your Mastercard for sure (and possibly Visa card) so that you can earn Avios while using the card at select retailers in Qatar.  Don’t forget that Avios in your Privilege Club account can be transferred to other Avios programs like British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus!
