Just as Scene+ is expanding its presence in Canada with the addition of grocery partners we see the original Scotia SCENE+ Visa Card get a limited time increased welcome bonus! The no annual fee card sees its offer for new customers jump from 5,000 to 7,500 Scene+ Points.
The 7,500 points welcome bonus
The welcome bonus is broken down into two parts. It has the original 5,000 points and now an additional 2,500 points for completing more spending:
- Earn 5,000 bonus Scene+ points by making at least $750 in everyday eligible purchases in your first 3 months.
- Plus, for a limited time, you are eligible to earn a 2,500 Scene+
point bonus when you spend at least $5,000 in everyday eligible
purchases in your first year.
The additional 2,500 points will be awarded as soon as you hit that $5,000 in spending. So you could see it as soon as your first month of having the card should you have a big purchase or purchases totalling over $5,000 or you can see it after twelve months with a leisurely $416.67 in spend each month in your first year. How you total up to $5,000 doesn’t matter so long as you hit that amount in the first 12 months.
What are 7,500 points worth?
Once you earn the 7,500 points those will be worth $75 towards any travel, movies and snacks with Cineplex or $75 towards groceries at Sobeys, Safeway and other Empire Company stores.
You will in fact have more points than this however since you have to spend on the card to get the bonus! At a minimum, with $5,000 spent you’ll have another 5,000 points at 1 point per dollar. However as of October 1 if you happen to use the card at Empire stores like Sobeys, Foodland and Safeway or with Cineplex you’ll be earning 2 points per dollar! Up until September 30 Cineplex purchases will actually earn 5x points then switch to the 2x points.
