United has brought back their bonus for converting hotel points to
MileagePlus miles. The bonus for this iteration of the promotion is 30%
and you are allowed to earn a maximum of 25,000 bonus miles across all
your transfers. Really the only transfer that can make sense is
converting Marriott Bonvoy points since they transfer at a a 3 to 1.1
ratio. You’ll also want to do it in 60,000 point batches to ensure you
get the extra miles from Marriott. All other hotel programs have pretty
terrible conversion ratios however if you have orphaned points in those
programs that you know you’ll never use, then by all means convert them
over so you can get something of value from them.
