London Drugs will be revamping their LDExtras program and Star Alliance gains their first non-airline partner – Deutsche Bahn

Here’s your Rewards Canada update! Your near daily dose of
loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses, deals and more.

LDExtras, the loyalty program for London Drugs will
be undergoing its first revamp soon! Thanks to our reader Tony L. for
alerting us to the announcement from the Western Canadian retailer.
There aren’t a lot of details surrounding the change just yet other than
the Beauty Rewards portion of the program will be discontinued as of
July 31 and the new program will be even easier. Click here to learn more. 

Here are the details provided by London Drugs so far:

Registration and Enrollment

  • Your LDExtras account information including any Visits and Vouchers will be transferred into the new LDExtras program. However, to access your LDExtras account and continue your journey with the new LDExtras program, you will need to re-register on the new LDExtras website or via the London Drugs app once the new LDExtras program is launched.
  • For the re-registration, your LDExtras
    member ID (which is usually your phone number) will remain the same but
    you will need to set up a new password and agree to our updated Terms
    and Conditions. You will need to have and be able to access an active
    email address to be part of the new LDExtras program.

Vouchers and Rewards

  • Any existing LDExtras coupons, Reward Beauty Vouchers or other LDExtras Vouchers in your LDExtras account will be transferred to the new LDExtras
    program and remain valid until the expiry date indicated on the
    Voucher/coupon. To access such Vouchers and coupons after the launch
    date of the new LDExtras program, you must re-register to the new LDExtras program as instructed above.
  • LDExtras Beauty Rewards Program officially closes on July 31, 2022 and will not be part of the new LDExtras program.
  • Any Vouchers collected through the LDExtras Achieve program will be transferred to the new LDExtras program
  • If you don’t have a chance to re-register to the new LDExtras program on the launch date, don’t worry! From the launch date of the new LDExtras program to the date of your re-registration to the new LDExtras program, your eligible purchases at London Drugs will still be counted towards your participation in the new LDExtras program. Once re-registered, you will be able to access your progress made since the launch date.

Star Alliance, the airline alliance that Air Canada was a founding member of announced their first non-airline intermodal partner yesterday! DB or Deutsche Bahn,
Germany’s national railway operator will become a Star Alliance partner
as of August 1. It’s quite a logical move seeing that Star Alliance
carrier Lufthansa has had a 20+ year relationship with DB running the
Lufthansa Rail Express program. This will now allow the rest of the Star
Alliance airlines to issue one connecting ticket for flights + rail
travel in and out of Germany. There will be enhanced baggage handling
between air and rail plus all Star Alliance partner airlines will allow
for miles/points earning and redeeming for eligible air+rail travel. Click here to learn more (In German)
