Earning Stories: An elite status boost and nearly 20,000 bonus points thanks to Aeroplan’s credit card promos

Welcome to the latest edition of Earning Stories where we showcase real life achievements of promotions and offers that we publish here on Rewards Canada. In this edition long time Rewards Canada reader and contributor Dee shared with us his recent account updates from Aeroplan showing the fulfillment of a trio of awesome promotions that tied into his TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card

Let’s take a look at what was achieved:

The first was the pre-authorization bonus that came out in Summer of 2021:

This offer was actually sent out as a targeted offer to many TD card holders where you could choose from bonus points or statement credits for setting up pre-authorized payments and completing the required actions by December 15. You can read more about this offer in our post here

As you can see Dee went the way of bonus points and met the requirements of 3 new Pre-Authorized payments. The 7,500 bonus Aeroplan Points posted a week after the end of the promotion.

The next promotion was the offer for TD Aeroplan cardholders to earn 10x points for bookings made with Air Canada.

This was not a targetted offer that came out in September and was open to all TD Aeroplan co-brand cardholders. The offer awarded 10x the regular earn Air Canada earn rate on these cards which in this case with the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card worked out to 20 points per dollar spent.  You can read more about this offer in our post here.

Finally there was the amazing status opportunity for premium co-brand cardholders (Amex, CIBC and TD) that would provide Air Canada 25K Elite Status if you spent $10,000 on your card by October 15 or November 30 (depending on when you got your card)

Again this was not a targetted offer which was first revealed in July 2021 and was open to Ultra Premium Aeroplan co-brand cardholders. The 25K status offer was for existing cardholders while new cardholders who applied during the promotional period and met that $10K spend would also get 25K status or if they already had status would get a boost to the next level up.  You can read more about this offer in our post here

You can see this offer posted to Dee’s account on January 4 and has already showed up in his elite status tracker on the Aeroplan website.

Wrapping it up

Kudos to Dee for keeping track of these offers that Aeroplan and their co-brand credit card partners provided in 2021 and of course for achieving them! He earned nearly 20,000 points (which with some current redemption options can easily be redeemed for a return economy class Aeroplan award flight within Canada) and gets a nice jump start to achieving Super Elite status since Dee was already a Super Elite member when these promotions came out. Had he been a non-elite status holding member he would currently have 25K status thanks to that status boost promotion.

For those of you who may have missed these promotions and don’t want to miss out again just keep an eye out here on Rewards Canada as we do publish the most loyalty program offers out of any sites in Canada.
