Good news came out this week from the team at WestJet Rewards as they have announced a further extension for most vouchers set to expire on December 31. This is a wide ranging extension covering a wide variety of vouchers that are issued by the frequent flyer program from Companion Vouchers to Lounge Access Vouchers to Seat Selection Vouchers and more. The key factor this time however is the extension are not automatic. The onus has been put on the member to check their account to see if they have any vouchers with a December 31, 2021 expiry date and if they do they must register to have them extended.
You should see something like this in your account with a nice ‘exclamation mark’ warning showing you which vouchers are due to expire soon:
This is the complete list of vouchers that are eligible to be extended:
Vouchers issued in connection with a WestJet RBC® credit card
- World Elite companion vouchers
- Annual round-trip companion vouchers
- Lounge access vouchers
Vouchers issued as a milestone award to Platinum, Gold and Silver members
- WestJet-wide companion vouchers
- Guest lounge vouchers
- Guest advance seat selection vouchers
- Unselected milestone choice award
- Gift of Gold vouchers
All vouchers will be extended be extended by six months to June 30, 2022 for those who register by December 28, 2022. Members should see the expiry date of eligible vouchers updated by January 6, 2022. The terms and conditions do state ‘for a final six months’ so we can take this as the lat extension we’ll see from the program. Of course I would assume this may change if the ongoing pandemic takes a turn for the worse in 2022.
If you have multiple vouchers expiring you only have to register once and all eligible vouchers in your account will be updated.

WestJet has provided their members a nice Christmas present with these extensions on vouchers that were set to expire this year.
