Alaska Airlines Buy One Get One Free sale – includes departures from Canada

This offer is making the rounds on many of the U.S blogs today and the good news is that it also works for Canadian departures! Alaska Airlines is once again having a BOGO sale for travel in the New Year.
When you buy a coach class ticket you’ll only have to pay the taxes and
fees on the second ticket. This sale is good for travel on all Alaska Airlines
flights except Prudhoe Bay and flights to some destinations are limited
to select days but other than that it’s a pretty wide open sale! Tickets
must be booked by December 7 for travel between January 5 and March 9, 2022 and you have to use discount code
STARBUCKS to receive the discount on the second ticket.

I took a quick look at just one route to see if the offer worked for Canadians and that was from Vancouver to Honolulu in January:

You can see each fare is discounted by US$113 to make that second base fare free confirming it does work from Canada. This total works out to bout $296 Canadian which is about $100 cheaper per person
than WestJet or Air Canada on those same dates. Also the Alaska flights are Main Cabin (they were pricing cheaper than Saver!) which includes seat selection and 100%
Mileage Plan earning whereas the Canadian airlines you would have to pay for seat selection and also earn no rewards with WestJet or only 25% with Aeroplan. Of course though you are forgoing direct flights by going with Alaska Airlines so you would need to decide if the savings are worth it to make the connecting flights and longer travel days.

Remember if you are flying Alaska Airlines you can save even more by having the Alaska Airlines World Elite® Mastercard® as it gives you your first checked bag free for up to 6 people on the same reservation plus you earn 3 Mileage Plan Miles per dollar spent on Alaska Airlines tickets.
