November 24 Update: Aeroplan furthers extends the pause on points expiry to September 2022 & a new 1,000 bonus points offer for Best Western stays

Here’s your Rewards Canada Daily update! Your daily dose (or near

Air Canada Aeroplan announced a further extension on
the pause of the expiry of Aeroplan points. The last extension had the
points expiry being reinstated as of January 31, 2022 but that has now
be moved significantly later to September 30, 2022.

“…meaning that between now and September 29, 2022, any Aeroplan
points which would have expired will not. Effective September 30, 2022,
our normal expiration policy will once again apply meaning points will
expire if an eligible transaction has not been completed within the
previous 18 months prior to this date.”

Aeroplan point expiry is in fact only an inactivity rule – that is
you need to have some sort of activity in your Aeroplan account once
every 18 months. That can be earning or redeeming points. Also if you
have a Aeroplan co-brand card your points will remain intact. You will
want to make sure you have that activity by September 29 because if you
don’t you’ll lose those points on September 30, 2022.

On a side note I find it funny this comes about a week after I went out to Home Hardware
to buy some things I needed but took three Aeroplan cards with me and
split my purchase in three to make sure all those accounts had at
activity in them in anticipation of the January 31 date! Oh well, at
least those accounts earned some points and have their points safe until
2023.
