As part of Marriott’s Week of Wonders a buy points bonus has returned that offers 50% extra is you are a base member or 55% extra for Bonvoy Elite members. The 55% gets close to the record 60% seen last November and actually whether you get 50 or 55% this is at a level
where it can make sense to buy some to top off for an award or even to be lots for free
night stays. . The bonus is
awarded on purchases from 2,000 to 100,000 points and that 100,000 is a
doubling of the typical 50,000 point annual limit for buying points.

Receive up to a 55% Bonus when you buy 2,000 or more Marriott Bonvoy
Points. The annual limit of points that can be bought per member has
been increased to 100,000 during this promotion. Buy Marriott Bonvoy Points here. Until Oct 14, 21
With a 55% bonus you end up buying points for ~0.81 US cents each or just over 1 cent C$ each. This may seem higher than the 1 cent we typically value Bonvoy points at but you
have to remember that one cent is our minimum. There are many examples of
where you can redeem points and get a per point value well above that. For example, take the Fairfield Inn & Suites Winnipeg week long stay redemption we highlighted in our Finding huge value in the 70,000 point welcome bonuses on the Marriott Bonvoy credit cards article. At this location a seven night stay requires 35,000 points versus a cash price of C$1,027.12. You can buy 35,650 points (this includes a 55% bonus for elites) for US$287.50 or about C$360. Buying points for this redemption example would save you nearly $700 off of the cash price!
Ultimately you need to do the math to see if it
makes sense for you to buy points – don’t just buy them because there is
bonus.
