July 21 Update: Canalta Rewards adds elite tiers with more benefits, JetBlue TrueBlue added to Rewards Canada & 2,500 free Qatar Airways Qmiles

Here’s your Rewards Canada Daily update! Your daily dose (or near
daily dose) of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses,
deals and more.

Western Canada’s Canalta Hotels has made changes to their Canalta Rewards program. You may have received an email from them stating this:

Some of you may be aware already that we are making a
few changes to our rewards program. Your points will remain the same,
and you will still earn points the same way. 

We are moving our program to a new platform, so please bare with us while we work out some of the kinks during the move. 

Some exciting news with the new platform: We will be
bringing back Gift Cards again! And we will be adding a brand new tier
system.

With a number of technical issues with our Canalta
Hotels App – we will be retiring the app. However, the new site is
totally mobile friendly! 

It appears the major change is a new back end system
that the program will run on, the removal of their app and a new tier
system. There are no changes to points earning or redemption options
with the program 

 

That new tier system is actually an elite tier system
that see three tiers. Tier 1, 2 and 3 as they are called are as follows:

Tier 1
Qualifier → 1 – 39,999 Points
Benefits:
– Earn 500 points for every $25 spent
– Member exclusive rates
– no blackouts

Tier 2
Qualifier → 40,000 – 79,999 Points
Benefits:
– Earn 15% faster
than Tier 1 — 575 points for $25
– Member exclusive rates
– no
blackouts
– Early Checkin & Checkout


Tier 3
 Qualifier → 80,000+ Points
Benefits:
– Earn 25% faster than Tier
1 — 625 points for $25
– Member exclusive rates
– no blackouts
– Early Checkin & Checkout
– Free Room Upgrades (When available)

– Welcome Gift (Cookies) or Bonus Points of 500
– Faster Wifi Speeds
(Where available)
– Gift – Cult Follower Tier (Once a year)

What is not told to us (at least not yet) on the Canalta
site is how long do you have for qualifying for one of their elite
tiers? Are those annual points requirements? Most likely so since almost
all programs run on an annual basis but you never know, with a small
program like this the period for qualifying could be longer. As soon as
we learn something more we’ll definitely let you know. Also, would love
to know what the “Cult Follower Tier” is that you can gift should you
reach Tier 3!

starting their Vancouver flights next summer. There aren’t a lot of
offers for us Canadians just yet – well just one for buying their points
