It looks like Air Canada is well aware the next winter season will see more Canadians travelling thanks to more of the population being vaccinated and regions slowly starting to open up to more travel. That being said I believe Air Canada also realizes much of that travel for Canadians may be limited to select regions and with that knowledge we see Air Canada reveal news today on their plans for a major expansion for flights to Hawaii for Winter 2022.
Here is what Air Canada has planned for the 2022 Winter season:
- New non-stop Montreal–Honolulu service starts Dec. 12, 2021
- New non-stop Toronto–Maui service starts Dec. 18, 2021
- Toronto–Honolulu non-stop service resumes Dec. 17, 2021
- Calgary new non-stop Honolulu service and resumption of Maui service begin Dec. 18, 2021
- Vancouver non-stop services to Honolulu, Maui and Kona resumes
We see the return of all Vancouver to Hawaii services, Calgary to Maui and Toronto to Honolulu flights also resume. On top of that however we see new flights between Toronto and Maui, Montreal and Honolulu as well as Calgary to Honolulu.
All of the Toronto and Montreal services will be flown with internationally configured Boeing 787 Dreamliners which means travellers will have access to full business class with lie flat seats. The Dreamliner will also fly Vancouver to Honolulu and Maui during the peak periods of Winter. All other flights out of Calgary and Vancouver will be flown with the Boeing 737 Max aircraft. I was really hoping that Calgary would see the 787 as well as I’m pretty sure WestJet will be flying their 787 out of YYC to Hawaii!
