Thanks to Rewards Canada contributor Jeff W. for alerting us this morning to this amazing new Amex Offers offer that came out for the Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card:
For the next 5 months cardmembers who are targeted for this offer (and it looks like a good portion of them are!) will earn 5,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points for every $2,000 spent on the card. The bonus can be earned up to 5 times. That means if you spend $10,000 on the card in this time period you’ll earn 25,000 bonus points. The bonus equates to an additional 2.5 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent. The card’s base earn rate is 2 points per dollar so that will mean you are earn 4.5 points per dollar spent but if you throw some Marriott stays in that time those earn 5 points per dollar meaning you’ll actually be earning 7.5 points per dollar spent!

If you recall from our review of this card we had an example where redeeming for a luxury hotel worked out to 3.4 cents per points in value so if you multiply that by the earn rates above you can achieve a 15.3% return on your everyday spending all the up to 25.5% return on Marriott spend! That’s insane!
Those 25,000 points earned as a bonus are enough for one free standard award night at a Category 4 hotel or up to 5 nights at a Category 1 hotel for an Off Peak award night.
If you don’t have this card right now is a good time to apply for it as it has one of the best ever welcome offers on it of 60,000 welcome points (when you spend $3,000 in the first three months) and a $120 statement credit if you spend $10,000 in the first twelve months effectively making this card free in the first year. There are no guarantees that new cardmembers will be able to get in on this additional Amex Offer but you never know!
