A new Amex Offers offer came out this week. This one
is for Godiva Chocolates (perfect timing for Easter!) and provides a
one-time $10 statement credit when you spend at least $50 in qualifying
purchases using your registered Card at www.godiva.ca by May 15. I received it on my Platinum Card but I do believe it is open to all Amex cards since it is listed on their general registration page. Learn more about this and other Amex Offers in our Guide to American Express Canada ‘Amex Offers’

It appears that the U.S. CBP wants to increase the fee for NEXUS
cardholders by a significant amount. Right now it costs US$50 to apply
for or renew a NEXUS Trusted Traveler membership. That may be jumping to
US$120 as the the U.S. CBP has applied to increase fees for the Global
Entry and SENTRI programs. They are proposing a new fee of US$120 for
those programs and in the application they mention they will apply
separately to adjust NEXUS as well so it is harmonized with their other
programs. That means we may eventually see NEXUS cost us US$120. There
is no indication of when that separate application will be made. If and
when that happens the next question will be “Will the credit cards that
have NEXUS credits boost the benefit” Right now we have select CIBC
Aventura cards that provide a credit for the C$ equivalent of the US$50
fee as do several TD Aeroplan cards. Will these card issuers be willing
to boost that credit to cover this higher fee? (Source Regulations.gov)

British Airways made an unannounced devaluation to
their Executive Club program. It doesn’t really affect redemption
options to or from Canada however it does impact short haul redemption optoins in other regions, most notably Europe. You’ll find that Zone 1 to 3
redemption rates have all gone up by 750 Avios. For example the amazing Zone 1
1 up to 650 miles distance rate of 4,000 Avios for a one way flight is now 4,750. The
equivalent zones for North America were increased a few
years ago and do not appear to be affected by this change as we checked the
popular route of Toronto to New York City which is
still pricing out at 7,500 Avios one way. (Source FlyerTalk)
