Rewards Canada reader Barry M. asked us the following question about the new companion voucher offer on the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard:
“Does the companion ticket need to simply be used to book a flight
within one year or does the actual flight date need to be within that
one year window?”
We double checked with WestJet as it used to be that you had to fly
within the 1 year period (at least that’s what a WestJet agent once told
me) but that is not the case. Essentially you’ll have close to two
years to actually travel:
“The companion voucher has to be booked within 1 year of its issuance
but can be for travel up to 1 year after booking. So theoretically a new
cardholder who gets a $0 voucher on May 20th, 2021 can book on May 1st,
2022 for travel in Jan, 2023.”
