Air Canada Aeroplan’s first non-travel partnership since the launch of the new program in November is here!. Starting today you will be able to Aeroplan points on any Starbucks purchases you make utilizing the Starbucks app. And the good news? This is in addition to your regular Starbucks Rewards earning so you’ll automatically be double dipping – well let’s be honest in all likelihood it will be at least a triple dip as you should be funding your Starbucks app with a points earning credit card!
To earn Aeroplan Points you must load funds onto the app
To earn points on your Starbucks purchases your Aeroplan account must be associated with your Starbucks Rewards account. This is a simple process that takes less than a minute – simply visit aircanada.com/starbucks to link your accounts.
Once linked, you will earn Aeroplan points each time you load or reload funds to your Starbucks account. Points are earned as follows:
- Earn 75 Aeroplan points each time you load or reload $50 up to $74.99 to your Starbucks Card.
- Earn 150 Aeroplan points each time you load or reload $75 or more to your Starbucks Card.
- Not yet a Starbucks Rewards member? Earn a one-time bonus of 400
Aeroplan points when you create a new Starbucks Rewards account, link it
to your Aeroplan account and make your first purchase using the
Starbucks app within one month of creating the Starbucks Rewards
account.
Yes you may be funding your account with higher amounts but hey you’re getting a pretty good return in terms of those Aeroplan points!
Ultimately you’ll want to load $75 at a time so that you are earning 2 Aeroplan points per dollar spent. If you don’t want to fund that much you should try to a least load $50 at once to earn 1.5 points per dollar spent. Don’t be loading $65 or $85 or any other amount as that will decrease the value of points per dollar spent.
Limited time bonus Aeroplan points on Starbucks Rewards activities
As I mentioned above to celebrate the launch of this partnership there are two limited time bonus points offers available over and above the points earned for funding your Starbucks account:
- Until June 6, 2021, earn 25 Aeroplan points when you make four or more qualifying transactions using Starbucks Rewards in a week.
- Earn 50 Aeroplan points every time you redeem 150 Stars two times or more in one calendar month until May 31, 2021.
Don’t forget about the TD Aeroplan credit card Starbucks bonus!
Remember as well that all TD Aeroplan co-brand credit cards are offering 50 percent more Aeroplan points for every $1 spent on eligible credit card purchases at participating Starbucks locations until November 7, 2021. If we take the most popular card, the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card it would normally earn 1 point per dollar spent at Starbucks but with the 50% bonus it earns 1.5 points. That means when you load $75 to your Starbucks account you’ll earn the 150 points from the partnership, 112.5 points from the TD card and then 150 Starbucks stars for using up the $75. Depending on what you redeem for with Aeroplan and with Starbucks you are looking at about $8 in value at an absolute minimum. For most however it will be more – I like to redeem 50 Stars at time for pastries that cost over $3 each. That’s $9 alone from the Stars plus at least $3 in value from the Aeroplan points so for me it would put it at about a $14 return on that $75 spent.
