Reminder: 50% Transfer Bonus for RBC Rewards (Avion only) to British Airways Executive Club starts on Monday

Just wanted to give you a quick reminder about one of the best features of the RBC Avion cards, the 50% transfer bonus to British Airways Executive Club. I broke the news about the bonus back in this post on May 20th and now RBC has updated their website with the news. The British Airways link in my May 20th post has not been updated yet but should be by Monday. Happy Transferring Avioners!

  1. Maybe they can put some pressure on BA to release some award space from N America. What joke this is this year. The 2 for 1 is pretty well useless this year and , no points going to them if they keep this up. AA will get them.

  2. I'm new to "rewards hacking." I have an Avion card and have thought of transferring over points however my current reward goal is a flight to Western Europe/Scandinavia and BA apparently has really high taxes and fuel surcharges for flights from North America to Europe... So it sounds like I shouldn't bother moving my points. Does anyone have any advice?

    Thank you!

    1. While some may not consider redeeming Avios for transatlantic flights, it can still be a decent deal especially if fares are really high or if you are traveling in a premium class. If you are planning on flying in Economy you are probably better off using the Avion flight reward chart to book flights but if you want to travel business/first class then you could look at BA (and their partner options like Aer Lingus as they will start flying out of YYZ)

Also an option is to convert to BA and then book a BA economy flight and use Avios to upgrade it to Business (or book business and upgrade to first)

Are there better options for Avios? Yes but in the end it is about the reward you want to get.
