Gary Leff from the View From The Wing blog broke this story a few days as a rumour and then confirmed that effective October 1st, 2011 all Starwood Award stays and nights will count towards your elite qualification in the SPG program. The only other hotel programs to offer this benefit are Choice Privileges and Hilton HHonors.
