Here’s your RWRDS Canada update! Your near daily dose of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses, deals and more.

American Express expands their Plan It pay over time option

American Express expanded their pay over time ‘Plan It’ option this week. There is now more flexibility for consumer cardmembers and it is also now being offered to business cardmembers.

Consumer Cards:

For Consumer Cardmembers, we’ve introduced a new way to pay in installments:
- Consumer Cardmembers can already plan a portion of their statement balance, but will now be able to also plan individual purchases.
- Cardmembers can now split a single purchase into equal monthly payments for a fixed monthly fee.
- For example: The purchase of a flight could be split into monthly installments OR a series of specific vacation expenses (hotel, flight, dining, activities, etc.) can be chosen for monthly installments.

Business Cards:

We’ve extended Plan It capabilities to Commercial Cardmembers. Plan It will allow business owners to split their purchases or balances into equal monthly installments. This includes:
- Transparent Pricing: With no additional interest, pay a fixed monthly fee on planned purchases or amounts.
- Customizable Plans: Select a purchase or choose the amount you want to put on an installment plan.
- Manageable Timelines: Pick the monthly duration that works for you, from 3, 6 and 12 months.
- Earn Rewards: Earn points on purchases the way you usually do.
- No application or enrollment is required, Plan It is a feature available on a Cardmember’s Card.

Amex’s Plan It is currently not available in PEI, Quebec, Nunavut or Nova Scotia.

Earn 20,000 bonus points on Private Home Rentals with Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy

Earn 20,000 Bonus Bonvoy Points when you complete a Private Home rental stay of 3 or more nights booked via Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy. Condor Airlines adds Calgary – Frankfurt service

After a four year hiatus German leisure airline Condor will be returning to Calgary for the 2024 summer season. The airline will offer 2x weekly service with an Airbus A330-900neo. Of course, news came out last week that Air Canada is dropping the Calgary-Frankfurt route as of October 30 with Lufthansa’s Discover (nee Eurowings Discover) taking over the route after that date. With the Condor service added for the summer the capacity on this route will be similar to when Air Canada was the primary airline flying it with Discover providing the extra lift during the summer season.
