New Verified Traveller Program to replace Trusted Traveller Program

The Government of Canada announced a new Verified Traveller Program that should speed up the security screening process at half a dozen Canadian airports. If you are familiar with the TSA Pre-check program stateside then the new Verified Traveller Program will make sense to you. Essentially the program allows verified travellers to receive “select benefits at security screening checkpoints, such as keeping laptops, large electronics and compliant liquids and gels in their carry-on, and keeping their shoes, belt and light jacket on.”

Verified travellers include:

Members of NEXUS and Global Entry;
Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces and US military, including reservists, with valid ID;
Canadian aircrew and airport workers with Restricted Area Identification Cards;
International aircrew (in uniform) with valid airline ID; and
Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers, Canadian police officers and constables with a badge and proper photo identification issued by their respective organizations.

And the airports where the new Verified Traveller Program will replace the current Trusted Traveller Program by June 21:

Vancouver International Airport
Edmonton International Airport
Calgary International Airport
Winnipeg International Airport
Toronto-Pearson International Airport T1 and T3
Montreal-Trudeau International Airport

New Kimpton Hotels Social Password for use this summer

Kimpton Hotels has a new secret social password out for the summer season. That password is “No Shade” and it can be used through September 4, 2023. If you are unfamiliar with Kimpton’s social password it is a ‘code’ you give to the front desk agent when checking in for a Kimpton stay. Once you give the password you’ll receive a special surprise or perk for your stay. This can range from F&B vouchers and complimentary room upgrades to local knick knacks and complimentary bottles of wine. Here in Canada we have one Kimpton Hotel, the Saint George in Toronto where you can use the password. Outside of Canada there are over 70 Kimpton Hotels (primarily in the U.S.) where you can also utilize the password.
