Here’s your Rewards Canada update! Your near daily dose of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses, deals and more.

AIR MILES adds Canada Jetlines as an airline partner

The beleaguered AIR MILES program now counts Canada Jetlines as an airline partner for their AIR MILES Flights program. This means you can book Canada Jetlines via the AIR MILES site and choose to pay cash (well by credit card) or redeem miles for the flights. Cash bookings for Canada Jetlines flights done through AIR MILES will earn the standard bonus that is awarded on all cash flights and that is up to 200 bonus miles. The bonus miles awarded will depend on whether you book one way or round trip and your AIR MILES status level. Currently Jetlines flies out of Toronto to Cancun and Las Vegas. The airline will resume twice weekly flights to Vancouver in May.

Forgive me if there is any lack of excitement from me, here you have a loyalty program that is still technically on the brink (but should most likely emerge from its parent company’s bankruptcy) and an airline that couldn’t make up their mind as to what cities they would serve first or continue to serve. Jetlines announced they were going to fly from Toronto to Winnipeg and Moncton as their launch cities, nixed those flights and ended up choosing Toronto to Calgary and those Calgary flights have already been axed. More recently there were stories of the airline cancelling some of their regularly scheduled flights to operate charter flights for other airlines and operators. So all I can say is buyer beware if you are booking Canada Jetlines flights with cash or miles via AIR MILES.

Lindner Hotels will join World of Hyatt soon

Lindner Hotel Lindner Nights will be discontinued later this year as the hotel chain joins the Hyatt family. This loyalty program for this small German hotel chain was popular on Rewards Canada quite a few years ago thanks to some great free points offers thus I’m sure some of our readers may still be part of the program. With this news you may like to know that you only have until the end of the year to use up those points if you still have them!

On July 1, 2023, Lindner Nights will no longer accept new members and earning will no longer be applicable. Rest assured that you’ll have until December 31, 2023, to use your points at participating hotels.

Then later this year 22 Lindner Hotels will join the World of Hyatt program where you will be able to earn and redeem World of Hyatt points. Learn more here

The good thing as well if you did join Lindner Nights at that time or anytime prior to March 1, 2023 you can earn 1,000 bonus points per night at Hyatt Hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa as a celebration of them joining Hyatt. Click here to learn more and to register for this offer.
