Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan devalues certain JAL Japan Airlines awards
With no advance notice Alaska Airlines has devalued some of their best award flights with Japan Airlines from the U.S. to Japan and Southeast Asia as well as intra-Asia flight awards. Flights from the West Coast including JAL’s only Canadian city, Vancouver have not been affected but only time will tell if those will remain. At this time you can still redeem 60,000 Mileage Plan miles to fly JAL Business Class from Vancouver to Tokyo, if you can find availability. I found it extremely hard to find any JAL business class rewards over the next 6-7 months out of YVR. Gary at View from the Wing has a good breakdown of the changes that have been found.
