Telus quietly drops credit card fee

When it was announced that Canadian merchants would be allowed to add a fee for accepting credit cards in 2022, communication giant Telus almost immediately added a 1.5% fee to their customers who chose to pay with a credit card. Now over half a year later Telus has reversed course and have stopped charging the fee as of June 1. With none of their competitors or any other major Canadian businesses in fact choosing to charge a fee I guess Telus realized it was potentially costing them some business. Sure it may be built in to their pricing or future pricing (and of all businesses) but it was the visibility of them charging such a fee that left a sour taste in many customer’s mouths. (HT Reddit)

Porter Airlines set to add Kelowna and Victoria to their route map

Yesterday Porter Airlines announced new service to Winnipeg and it looks like they will announce Kelowna and Victoria service shortly! Although it is not official, Ishrion Aviation posted on Twitter that Porter will be adding Toronto to Kelowna and Victoria flights as well as adding direct non-stop flights from Toronto to St. Johns. I have followed Ishrion for quite sometime now and don’t believe I have ever seen them to be wrong with the news they post. Let’s hope they are correct and that we can expect Porter to confirm these additional routes in the coming days!
