American Express adds Use Points for PayPal Payments option
American Express has added a new pay with points option where you can use your Membership Rewards points directly at check out with PayPal. When you you use your linked American Express card via PayPal you’ll be able to redeem points towards that purchase. The redemption rate for this new option is 1,000 points to $7, the same as using points right at check out with Amazon. You do have to note this is less than the 1,000 points for $10 seen with Use Points for Purchases. This is a bit of a head scratcher….. I mean why would you use your points right at check out with PayPal (or Amazon) when you can wait a couple of days until the charge actually posts on your Amex account and get three more dollars in value per 1,000 points when you redeem against that charge.

Singapore Airlines to discontinue service to Vancouver
Well that didn’t last very long… Singapore Airlines has once again decided to stop flying to Canada after this summer seaon. The announcement came today as part of the airline’s third quarter earnings press release.
Scoot’s services to Gold Coast and SIA’s services to Vancouver will be suspended with effect from July 2023 and October 2023 respectively, as the Group adjusts its capacity in response to demand.
The airline returned to Vancouver in 2021 after more than a decade of absence however based on the above comment from SIA and reading the release the airline has more demand elsewhere where their planes can be better utilized.
