RWRDS Daily Update – August 30, 2023

Here’s your RWRDS Canada update! Your near daily dose of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses, deals and more.

Points transfers from Avion Rewards Select to Avion Rewards Premium/Elite will be allowed!

We have received an update from RBC that clarifies points transfers from the new Avion Rewards Select program to the higher Avion Rewards Premium and Elite Levels. As it stands, based on the current terms and conditions set to come into effect on September 7, points transfers between Select and the other levels are not be allowed. However, once RBC does launch the ability to earn and redeem points via Avion Rewards Select this fall they are planning to allow points transfers and thus will also amend those terms and conditions accordingly:

Points capabilities for Select members will be available later in the fall and points transfer capabilities for these members will follow shortly after. Once the transfer capability is available, we will update the Terms and Conditions. Until the points transfer capability is released, Select members can still become Premium or Elite members and continue to leverage their existing points.

Personally I received these offers on the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard. Most if not all should also be available for RBC’s most popular card the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card and other RBC cards.

Pointsyeah award search tool adds round trip flight options

Pointsyeah, one of quite a few new entrants in the battle for Award Search Tool supremacy has released a new option allowing for round trip flight searches and have added SAS EuroBonus to their roster of programs being searched. Pointsyeah now covers 18 frequent flyer programs with a 19th to be added shortly.

Pointsyeah’s round-trip search is designed as two separate one-way plug in searches which provides the user control over flight choices.

They do note several exceptions to the round trip search options:

Delta SkyMiles on selected Delta-operated flights: Certain routes operated by Delta have their own pricing for round-trip awards. While many of Delta routes still follow the half-round-trip pricing, you can use the Delta website to double-check for round-trip pricing.

United Excursionist Perk (a fancy name for free stopovers): According to their website, “the Excursionist Perk offers a free one-way award within specific multi-city itineraries. If you book an itinerary with three or more one-way awards, you’re eligible for a complimentary one-way award. To take advantage of this benefit, start by searching for round-trip options on our site. Then, use the Multi Cities search feature on United.com, adding an extra segment of your choice to complete your booking.
