Stack Prepaid Mastercard will be discontinued as of September 11, 2023
The Stack Prepaid Mastercard which underwent some negative changes not too long ago is going the way of the dodo bird next month. Here is what Stack has emailed to their users:
We’ve got some news for our STACK customers — on September 11, 2023 our prepaid program will be coming to an end, but we’re excited to announce that KOHO Financial, Inc. will be STACK’s preferred partner going forward.
If you haven’t heard of KOHO yet, it’s one of Canada’s leading financial apps used by over 1 million Canadians. We chose KOHO to continue serving our loyal customers because we knew they could seamlessly provide the same high level of service you’re used to.

KOHO offers many of the same great services you have come to know and love with STACK (as well as the addition of some new KOHO features!).
There are a few steps you need to take:
Discontinue fund loads: As of August 18, you will no longer be able to load funds on your STACK card. You can direct deposit into your KOHO account.
Reduce your balance:Please use your remaining balance to make purchases or withdraw it before the program ends on September 11.
Remove automatic bill payments: Remember to update your payment methods on any recurring bills or subscriptions before the STACK Shutdown on September 11, 2023. KOHO offers a bill pay service that you can transition to.
As a welcome to KOHO, you can use the code KOHOSTACK to get a free month on the KOHO subscription plan so you can shop anywhere without worrying about FX fees. If you sign up for a KOHO account STACK can return your balance within 48 hours and assist on a seamless transfer to the new account in your name. You can transfer your direct deposit details into your new KOHO account.
Some key dates to remember:
August 18, 2023: After this date, you will no longer be able to load funds onto your STACK card.
September 11, 2023: Your STACK card will no longer be active. Please note that any ATM or POS transactions will not be approved after this date.
Once you’ve opened a KOHO account and loaded funds, you can start using your virtual card right away, in store and online, by adding it to your digital wallet. So you can start earning cash back the second you start spending.
If you have a balance and wish to close your STACK account before September 11, 2023, simply chat with STACK Customer Service through your app or through the web (https://support.getstack.ca/hc/en-us).
Any remaining funds on the STACK card will be returned to you via eTransfer to the email address on file within 45 days of card cancellation.
