During my four hour layover in Singapore awaiting my flight to Seoul, South Korea, I explored the SilverKris Lounge at Changi International Airport, which is located near the Krisflyer Gold Lounge I visited earlier. This lounge is situated at the center of the terminal, making it easy to spot for those on the lower level. Just look for the escalator with the SilverKris Lounge sign above it.
The main hallway by the entrance was split into 3 lounges – the SilverKris Business Lounge, SilverKris First Class Lounge, and the Private Room. The helpful staff at the entrance guided me to the appropriate lounge based on my eligibility criteria. Usually, eligibility is determined by travel class, which in this case was Business Class on Singapore Airlines, or a Star Alliance airline. I would have been directed to the Krisflyer Gold Lounge if I were a Gold Star Alliance member not travelling in Business Class.
The SilverKris Lounge at Changi Airport is a spacious and impressive lounge with a capacity of 560 passengers in its 32,000 sqft space. The lounge is thoughtfully designed, with different sections catering to different needs. On the right hand side is a full-service bar that offers complimentary drinks during limited hours.
Further in, the lounge opens up to the terminal, providing ample natural light during the day. Here, you will find a communal table at the center, semi-private cubicles, and rows of seats along the outer edge, catering to the needs of solo travelers, couples, and families. It is a delightful area to soak in the terminal noise and observe planes on the tarmac.
As I was exploring the lounge, I came across a small enclave that had high-top seating facing the terminal, a Service Desk counter, and a Kris shop display. Moving on to the main dining area, I spotted high-top tables, booth-style and communal tables, swivel chairs, and the main attraction – an extensive buffet section with drinks placed in the center.
Further on, I found a separate room that served as a sleeping and resting area, providing a calm and peaceful space for passengers.
Adjacent to the dining area, another section featured a variety of lounge chairs, a small playroom for kids, and a private cellphone booth for making calls.
The food section was impressive with the wide range of options available at the buffet. The food on offer was mainly Asian cuisine, in addition guests could order made-to-order dishes like penne or spaghetti with clams in white wine sauce, laksa, and wonton soup. The buffet also included sandwiches, fruits, cheese, and a self-serve station for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as an espresso station.
The restroom facilities were immaculate, and the shower rooms had ample stalls and amenities. However, there was an hour-long wait due to the lounge’s peak hours.
In conclusion, the SilverKris Lounge operates 24 hours, making it an ideal retreat for those with extended layovers. From my travel experiences, this lounge stands out as one of the best. I highly recommend visiting.
