WestJet adding non-stop flights from Calgary to Seoul, South Korea

WestJet has announced plans to offer non-stop flights between Calgary and Seoul, South Korea starting in 2024. This will be the Calgary based airline’s second city in Asia they serve after Tokyo, Japan. The new service, which is still subject to government approvals will launch on May 17, 2024 with flights being offered 3x weekly. The route will be flown with WestJet’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners which feature lie flat business class, premium economy class and economy class cabins.

Contest to win round-trip flights for two to Seoul

In celebration of the new route to Asia, WestJet has introduced a contest for a chance to win a round-trip flight for two from any Canadian WestJet destination to Seoul. Additionally, by signing up for the contest, guests will be notified when tickets are available for sale once regulatory approval is secured. The contest opens at 8:00 a.m. MT on December 14, 2023, and closes at 11:59 p.m. MT on January 4, 2023, and is open to legal residents of Canada, except Quebec, who are over the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry. Wrapping it up

WestJet has plans to offer direct non-stop flights from Calgary to Seoul beginning in May 2024. The route while still subject to approval and to the best of my knowledge will mark the first scheduled non-stop service between the two cities. In the past, the route has seen charter flights bringing  tourists from Korea on package vacations to visit the Canadian Rockies and area.
