CIBC Aventura switching to Expedia as their travel provider
Following in the footsteps of RBC Avion Rewards, More Rewards and others, CIBC Rewards will be switching to Expedia as the provider of their travel services as of October 1st:
Thank you for being a valued client and trusting us with your business. We want to let you know about changes to your Aventura Rewards Program (the “Program”) that will take effect on October 1, 2024.
Starting October 1, 2024, the Program will have a new travel supplier, Expedia, Inc., which you will be using when you redeem your Aventura Points for travel or book travel using your credit card (whether through cibcrewards.com or the contact centre).
It’s important to note, there will be no change to the number of Aventura Points you have earned including their value, the Aventura Points earn rates and bonus categories, the redemption options, your insurance and other benefits, and the interest rates, fees and credit limit on your Aventura card will remain the same.
For the most part CIBC Aventura cardholders shouldn’t really notice a difference (hopefully) What will be of interest is the amount CIBC chooses to mark up the travel provided to them by Expedia for those who pay with cash via CIBC Rewards (or part points part cash) Will CIBC choose to price it the same as Expedia’s own site or charge more or potentially less? We’ll have to wait to see.
When it comes to Aventura Air Rewards chart there should be no difference seen as the points redemption rates remain the same.
The main issue with having Expedia as their provider is that CIBC will not be able to provide flights, hotels or vacation packages to Cuba. As Expedia is US based, they cannot sell travel to Cuba due to the embargo in place on U.S. corporations doing business with Cuba.

Rexall Be Well Redemption event
Rexall’s Be Well program is running a redemption event until August 1st where they will award 5,000 points for every 25,000 points redeemed. Like many redemption offers of late this means you need the full 25,000 points before redeeming and when you redeem them they’ll give you the bonus.
