Air Canada adding bus services from Hamilton & Waterloo

Air Canada is moving into the waters of land to air connections with the launch of a new seamless bus to flight connection service in Southern Ontario. The partnership with The Landline Company will provide service from Hamilton and Waterloo to Toronto Pearson. Landline is the same company that provides similar services for American Airlines and United Airlines stateside. The busses operating the routes for Air Canada will offer accessible seating, power outlets and complementary Wifi.

Landline will operate six, non-stop round trips daily to Toronto Pearson from each of the Hamilton and Region of Waterloo airports in southern Ontario. Air Canada customers beginning their journey at Hamilton or Region of Waterloo airports will check in as normal for their flight and obtain boarding passes for all segments of their trip. At a designated departure point at the local airport, they will board a luxury, Air Canada-branded motorcoach and their checked baggage will be loaded. Upon arrival at Toronto Pearson, customers will proceed directly through security screening, while checked bags will be automatically transferred to the onward connecting flight.

In the event of coach or flight delays, customers travelling on Landline will be automatically offered the same protections as customers travelling on air-only itineraries.  Members of Air Canada’s Aeroplan program will earn points for both ground and air segments, as on any normal connecting flight itinerary. Negative changes coming to the BMO CashBack® World Elite®* Mastercard®*

There are some changes coming to the BMO CashBack® World Elite®* Mastercard®* that see the bank further taking away benefits and rewards from their customers:

  • The 24-hour access to Concierge service benefit will no longer be available from May 03, 2024.
  • Cashback changes effective May 3rd, 2024:
    · When making purchases with merchants outside of Canada, you will no longer earn bonus cash back on groceries, transit, gas, and recurring bill payments; you will continue to get 1% cash back on these purchases and all other qualifying purchases, with no limit on how much you can earn.

I don’t know of too many people who still utilize card concierge services so that change isn’t that big of deal. However limiting the rewards on purchases outside of Canada is definitely a hit to those who use this card while travelling. If you have this card and do use it outside of Canada you may want to consider a No Foreign Transaction fee card and/or one that providse accelerated earn rates outside of Canada like the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinte Card or the Rogers World Elite Mastercard .
