Speaking of Coast Hotels, I had the pleasure to present at their annual brand conference in Nisku last week and what a great event it was! Normally I speak at loyalty conferences so it was really cool to do so at a hotel chain’s ‘internal’ brand conference. My topic on “the significance of loyalty programs as powerful tools for building enduring customer relationships” was just one of dozens presented over the three day conference.

I was able to sit in on some other presentations and took in a lot of great information on the operational side of hotels – and there’s a lot! As hotel guests we rarely think of what may go into such an operation and this conference was good reminder that it’s not an easy task to run a hotel. From sales, safety, sustainability, food and beverage, loyalty programs, you name it, it’s definitely a hefty task being a hotel owner or operator!

SAS Scandinavian Airlines to join SkyTeam on September 1

As expected, SAS Scandinavian Airlines will be joining the SkyTeam alliance on September 1st, 2024. Just a few short weeks ago it was announced the airline would be leaving Star Alliance on August 31 and begin to codeshare and partner with SkyTeam airlines on September 1 but it was thought the airline would not join the alliance right way. With this latest announcement that has changed and SAS will officially join SkyTeam on that date.

Here in Canada the predominant SkyTeam airlines are Delta, Air France KLM and Korean Air so members of those airline’s frequent flyer programs will have one more option to redeem their miles on – namely SAS’ Toronto to Copenhagen route!
