There’s yet another new partnership in the Canadian loyalty landscape that will go live later this year. And once again it’s from RBC Avion Rewards. This time they have announced the launch of a new loyalty partnership between RBC’s Avion Rewards and Metro’s Moi Rewards. This seems similar in vain to the other partnership announced by RBC earlier this year with Pattison Food Group’s More Rewards.
Here’s how RBC and More Rewards describe this new collaboration:
…this broader collaboration will see Moi Rewards and RBC’s Avion Rewards come together later this year to deliver compelling and differentiated everyday value and savings to consumers.
“We are very proud to expand our loyalty partnership with METRO Inc., one of Canada’s leading and most prominent Canadian food retailers,” said Niranjan Vivekanandan, senior vice president & head, Loyalty & Merchant Solutions, RBC. “Combining the Moi Rewards program with Avion Rewards’ broad suite of benefits across key consumer spend categories will now bring grocery value and savings to consumers and families at a time when they need it the most.”
This loyalty partnership began last year with the initial launch of Moi in Quebec and New Brunswick and the introduction of the Moi RBC Visa credit card. The expanded collaboration will link the Moi Rewards and Avion Rewards programs, providing unique Moi value to RBC’s large client base and driving sales and redemption in Metro Ontario and Food Basics stores.
What will the partnership entail?
Just like the previously announced partnership between RBC Avion Rewards and More Rewards, this is early notice of a partnership that hasn’t gone live yet. So once again. we can only go on what RBC and Moi Rewards have provided in the press release.
They mention “compelling and differentiated everyday value and savings”, which is almost the same as “unique and compelling savings” which was seen in the press release with More Rewards 😉 Whether that’s discounts, statement credits, bonus points or a combination of offers, is yet to be seen. However, we did already see RBC Offers and Avion Select offers with Metro earlier this year, so I would assume that at the very least we should see expanded offerings for those portions of the programs.
RBC as a bank is already partnered with Metro as they are the issuer of Moi Visa Card so this loyalty program tie up is a natural for the two companies.
Wrapping it up
Like other loyalty partnership announcements of late, this announcement is providing early notice of the link up between RBC Avion Rewards and Metro Moi Rewards. Almost no details have been revealed as the actual partnership won’t go live for members of both programs until later in the year. That being said, with this announcement and the previous announcement of the partnership with More Rewards, RBC will have the majority of Canada covered in terms of grocery partnerships. Talk about another big shift in the Canadian loyalty landscape!
