Porter Airlines

Porter Airlines flights can now be booked with Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles!

The long awaited option to be able to redeem Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles on Porter Airlines flights is finally here! Originally planned for sometime in 2024, it looks like Alaska picked a great day to launch the new redemption option, Canada Day!

As we had predicted and pretty much anybody should have been able to guess, the option to redeem Mileage Plan miles on Porter follows Alaska’s partner airline award chart which means you can book flights for as little as 4,500 Mileage Plan miles one way. And unlike the reciprocal redemption option in Porter Airlines VIPorter – there is not requirement to have one leg on Alaska Airlines – you can simply redeem miles for Porter flights on their own.

As it is such an easy and simple process to redeem Mileage Plan miles on Porter, let’s just look at some examples of what is available!

Vancouver – Toronto

Calgary – Halifax

Earning Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles in Canada

Unfortunately, Alaska Airlines no longer has a co-brand credit card for Canadians however I have a sneaking suspicion they are working on one and we may actually see it sooner than we think…

Until then, the best way to earn Mileage Plan miles in Canada via a credit card is with Marriott Bonvoy which means you can use the following credit cards to convert or earn with Marriott and then transfer from Marriott to Alaska:

Or, if you are like me and still have the Diners Club Club Rewards Mastercard in your wallet, you can also convert Club Rewards points into Mileage Plan miles.

You can also earn Mileage Plan miles by flying with Alaska, Porter, any oneworld airlines or other Alaska partner airlines. You can also earn them on hotel stays (Rewards Canada partner Coast Hotels offers Mileage Plan earning and conversions!), car rentals and more. And of course, Alaska is famous for their mileage sales which we’ll be sure to do the calculations when the next sale comes up to see if it’s worth it to buy and redeem on Porter!
