Give A Mile has launched their annual Flight Hero Holiday Campaign with a goal this year of being able raise enough points, miles and cash to provide 52 flights of compassion. Give A Mile is RWRDS Canada’s primary charity partner and as such we are ready to pledge our support and our community’s support of their annual campaign!
Let’s raise 50,000 or more points!
RWRDS Canada has volunteered to be a Flight Hero for the 2024 campaign and our goal is to raise 50,000 points between us and our subscribers, followers, readers, listeners and viewers!
So let’s do this RWRDS Canada community! We are a savvy group of collectors who are privileged to be able to earn a lot of points & miles and we can use some of them to help out those in need of flights of compassion.
RWRDS Canada will match up to 25,000 points in donations made by our community to reach the goal of 50,000 points! Our donation will be in the form of Air Canada Aeroplan points but will match the value of donations from any and all programs that are made during the campaign
And we don’t have to stop there if we reach 50,000 points – let’s see if we can go even higher than that!
It won’t take a lot from our community, we only need 25 of us to donate 1,000 points each but whether it is 1,000 points, 5,000 points or any other amount, all donations are greatly appreciated! Give A Mile always pays the taxes on the flights they provide, so cash is also welcome.

Debora’s Flight Story
Flight Story #1150:
From Grand Prairie, AB to Halifax, NS – 127,412 Aeroplan Points
The roles of parent and child can shift dramatically over time, and for Goldie, this shift took on a profound urgency. Goldie had spent the past seven years as her mother’s primary caregiver, their bond forged through countless shared moments of joy and hardship. But when her mother’s COPD worsened after a two-year separation, the urgency of their situation became undeniable. Goldie’s mother expressed a deep longing to see all her children before she passed away.
Having moved two years ago for work-related reasons, Goldie faced the heartbreaking prospect of not being able to say goodbye in person. The distance between them had grown, but the love she felt for her mother remained unwavering. The thought of comforting her mother in her final days brought Goldie a sense of peace and closure.
Financial constraints made the flight from Grand Prairie to Halifax a daunting challenge. Despite her extended family’s efforts, the cost was simply out of reach. Yet, Goldie was determined to be there for her mother. Her story is a testament to the enduring power of love and the lengths a daughter will go to for her parent.
Through the generosity of Give A Mile donors, Goldie secured the necessary travel funds and reunited with her mother. The days they spent together were precious, a time for love, comfort, and a final goodbye. Goldie’s experience is a reminder of the profound impact that compassion and support can have on a person’s life.

As she crosses the country, Julie reflects on the countless moments of joy, struggle, and unconditional love that have defined their relationship. She is driven by a profound sense of duty and devotion, knowing that this reunion is not an obligation but a deeply personal and emotional pilgrimage.
In the face of adversity, Julie’s resolve shines brightly, illuminating the path of resilience and the unbreakable bonds of family. Her story is a testament to the strength found in vulnerability and the incredible courage required to say goodbye. As she prepares to embrace her mother one last time, Julie’s journey becomes a powerful narrative of familial love, sacrifice, and the timeless connection between a mother and her daughter.
Wrapping it up
Let’s make this a truly wonderful holiday season for those who are not able to afford very expensive last minute travel to visit their loved ones in a time of need. Without the luxury of flexibility when it comes to travelling (most flights are taken within 48 hours of being requested and approved) it can typically take a lot more miles and points to get those reward flights than we may be used to!
So that’s where we come in – many of us are fortunate to be able to earn a lot points & miles and with a collective of well into the thousands in the RWRDS Canada Community, it only takes a small donation each from the lot of us to make a huge difference. So please considering donating to Give A Mile. The RWRDS Canada family are very appreciative for any and all donations and we thank you for supporting Give A Mile this holiday season.
