RWRDS Daily Update – June 5, 2024: Earn 100 bonus miles via AIR MILES Shops and eBay to stop accepting American Express

Here’s your RWRDS Canada update! Your near daily dose of loyalty program, credit card and travel news, bonuses, deals and more.

Earn 100 bonus miles shopping online via AIR MILES Shops

To celebrate Father’s Day, AIR MILES is offering 100 bonus miles when you make an eligible purchase of $100 or more, excluding shipping, duties and taxes, in a single transaction, through airmilesshops.ca at participating online stores. If you are shopping at other retailers you can earn points/miles with their respective loyalty programs on top of this. Whether it’s Indigo Plum Rewards, Sephora Beauty Insider, or any other merchants, you’ll earn their points as well.

On top of this don’t forget to see if your credit card has any statement credit offers (Amex Offers or RBC Offers + Avion Select card linked offers) For example, if you are shopping at lululemon and have an American Express card be sure to check to see if you have one of these offers available to you and register your card before you make your purchase:

eBay to stop accepting American Express Cards

Citing “unacceptably high fees” eBay has announced they will stop accepting American Express cards as of August 17, 2024.” Most of this news is appearing on US based media however the statement from eBay does claim they will stop accepting Amex globally so that will include eBay.ca. American Express has countered that “Our research tells us that in the US the cost of acceptance for American Express is comparable to what eBay pays for similar cards on other networks” and Amex says eBay accounts for less than 0.2% of their total network volume so it is highly unlikely Amex will bow to any pressures from eBay.
